Bridge work to close section of Old U.S. 34 (The Fairfield Ledger)

A bridge replacement project on Old U.S. 34 over the BNSF Railroad west of Fairfield will cause the closure of Old U.S. 34 and a section of Hemlock Avenue in the area, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mount Pleasant construction office.

BNSF Foundation commits $250,000 to YMCA (The Galesburg Register-Mail)

The BNSF Foundation has notified YMCA officials of its intent to contribute $250,000 toward the YMCA’s “Activate Galesburg” Capital Campaign. The $2.1 million campaign, announced with a kickoff in November 2009, is designed to expand the YMCA facility and add a new outdoor sports complex.
