1   Link   Folkston Funnel
Upwards of 60 trains a day pass through on CSXT's double-track main line artery for railroad traffic into and out of Florida. Expansive covered Train Viewing Platform, equipped with scanner, fans, lights, electricity & flood lights for night train watching. Adjacent to the platform are picnic tables, a grill, and a new restroom facility for our guests. Trains can also be enjoyed from the grounds of the restored Folkston depot, just diagonally across the tracks from the platform.

2   Link   Jesup Railfan Platform
Strategically located adjacent to Jesup's Amtrak Station on CSXT's main line from Savannah through Waycross to Jacksonville, the Jesup Railfan Platform offers train watchers a new venue for watching 40-plus trains a day, including stops by southbound and northbound Amtrak, freights, coal trains, and the famous Tropicana Juice train.

3   Link   Rochelle Railroad Park
The Rochelle Railroad Park is the first park in the United States built just for visitors to see operating trains. Union Pacific and BNSF cross on double sets of tracks which intersect to form a diamond. The park is open year round, 24 hours a day. We monitor radio transmissions from both main lines through Rochelle for the UP and the BNSF. Park also features a 7 ton Whitcomb locomotive, Hobo Jungle, Hobo Signs, Original 1854 Air Line Railroad, Electric Generators, and gift shop.

4   Link   Golden Spike National Historic Site
At the site of the completion of the transcontinental railroad in May 10, 1869, the National Park Service does justice to the event by running replica locomotives and conducting reenactments of the Last Spike Ceremony. The visitor center offers informative films and exhibits.

5   Link   Historic Prairie Village
Prairie Village is a collection of restored buildings, rail equipment, and farm machinery that preserves the past. Rail structures include several historical depots, a roundhouse, and a turntable. On Sundays, you can take a two-mile train ride around the village. Several steam and diesel locomotives, various cabooses, and a unique chapel car are featured.

6   Link   Steamtown National Historic Site
Housed in several buildings on the site of the Lackawanna's roundhouse, Steamtown provides a shrine to steam-era railroading in the northeastern US. It also offers both short and long train rides and features a walk through the active portion of the roundhouse where steam locomotives are still maintained. The site also includes both a steam history museum as well as a technology museum.

7   Link   World Famous Horseshoe Curve
The Horseshoe Curve was created to gain elevation without make the grade too steep for trains to climb. Today more than 50 trains passover it's three tracks each day. Attractions at Horseshoe Curve consist of a visitor center at ground level and a trackside park, which is accessible by a 194-step walkway or by a funicular railway. The best show at the curve is the passage of a heavy westbound train with helper engines at the front and/or rear.

8   Link   Allegheny Portage Railroad
This national historic site preserves the remains of the Allegheny Portage Railroad that operated from 1834 to 1854. You can explore the 900-foot Staple Bend Tunnel, the first railroad tunnel built in the US, visit the engine house, or take a hike. For bikers there is a 2.5-mile trail that takes you to the Staple Bend Tunnel.

9   Link   Tweetsie Railroad
One of the original Wild West theme parks of the 1950s, Tweetsie has roots in the East Tennessee & Western North Carolina line. The Tweetsie’s Wild West Adventure, a train pulled by one of our historic coal-fired steam locomotives. It’s a trip back in time complete with Cowboys, train robbers and marauding renegades stirring up trouble. The park also features entertainment for the whole family, including fair rides, live entertainment, petting zoo, shopping, and food.

10   Link   Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer
This interactive museum takes you back to an 1890s railroad town with more than 60 restored buildings. During the summer, townspeople dressed in period clothing demonstrate daily life on the Plains. A 1901 steam locomotive, a 1912 caboose, and 1871 coach, and other railcars are on display.

11   Link   Golden Spike Tower
You can experience the sights and sounds of the Union Pacific's Bailey Yard from two distinct views. As the world's largest reclassification yard, Bailey Yard handles 10,000 cars every day. you can watch from a fully enclosed area 95 feet above the ground or from an open viewing platform seven stories high. The tower also displays UP and local artifacts.

12   Link   Lowell National Historical Park
The park includes a variety of structures related to industry including 5.6 miles of canals and restored mill buildings. It displays a Boston & Maine 0-6-0 Manchester locomotive built in 1910, a combine/tool car, and two open-air trolleys. A trolley ride operates March through November.

This is a family fun park with a two-mile train ride through a 1300-acre cranberry plantation and an emphasis on carnival type rides, bright lights and extravagant Christmas displays. Attractions throughout the year include, “Day Out With Thomas" classic storybooks; the National Cranberry Festival, which features a train ride through the fall cranberry harvest; and the Christmas Festival of Lights offering rides through brilliantly lit displays in the winter.

14   Link   Boothbay Railway Village
A two-foot-gauge steam train ride takes you around a re-created historic village. Rail buildings include several stations, an engine house, a water tower, and a crossing tower. Exhibits include a history of Main narrow gauge railroads, and various pieces of rolling stock and equipment are on display, as are more than 50 antique or classic automobiles and other vehicles.

15   Link   Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad
A 1950s locomotive with open-air cars takes you on a five-mile, 30-minute excursion around Stone Mountain. Narration provides a look at rail history, beginning in the mid-1800s when the rail line was first built, and provides interesting facts about the mountain. Sing-alongs take place during the ride. Special Halloween and Christmas trains also run. The park has plenty of other fun event and attractions, including a mini golf course themed around the Great Locomotive Chase.

16   Link   Railtown 1897 State Historic Park
Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is considered by many as the premier place for seeing California railroad history. The historic shops and roundhouse have been operating as a steam locomotive maintenance facility for more than 100 years. You can take a six-mile, 40 minute round trip ride behind a steam locomotive, in an open-air observation car, over part of the historic Sierra Railroad.

17   Link   Knott's Berry Farm
This Southern Califonia them park has morphed from its 1952 western-style operation to a world-class attraction with rides and events for every-age. The three-foot-gauge Ghost Town & Calico Railroad is just one part of this large theme park. Most trains are powered by one of two Denver & Rio Grande Western 2-8-0s, either no.41 or no. 340. There is also a Rio Grande Souther Galloping Goose and a number of authentic narrow gauge coaches, a parlor car, and a caboose.

18   Link   Fort Edmonton Park
Nestled in Edmonton's river valley, Fort Edmonton Park is a living history museum that represents four historical periods between 1840 and 1920. It contains more than 75 buildings. A 1919 steam train takes you through the park, and caboose rides are available. A streetcar also travels along the historic streets.

19   Link   Heritage Park Historical Village
Discover what life was like in the Canadian West between 1864 and 1914 by visiting this 66-acre re-created village framed by the Rockies. More than 150 exhibits, including many buildings transplanted from Calgary and other locations through Alberta. The park includes a roundhouse and turntable along with more than 20 locomotives and cars. A train ride is an excellent way to see the park.

20   Link   Fort Steele Steam Railway
Fort Steele Heritage Town is a restored 1890s pioneer town complete with railway. The railway is located outside the historic park, so you can ride the rail separately or as part of an all-inclusive ticket. A Montreal Locomotive Works 2-6-2 prairie-type locomotive takes you around a 2.5-mile loop. Along the way, you'll learn about local railroad history.
